Visit the Ronhill store

When temperatures drop, mitts are one of the most effective ways to keep your hands warm. Unlike gloves, which separate your fingers, mitts allow them to share warmth and insulate each other, helping to prevent numbness and discomfort.

  • Keeps fingers together to retain body heat
  • Thermal yet breathable fabric keeps hands warm without overheating
  • Palm grips provide excellent handling and control
  • Stretch fabric ensures a comfortable, snug fit

Description

The Winter Mitt has been thoughtfully designed with this principle in mind, offering excellent protection from the cold while keeping your hands comfortable and functional.

Crafted from a blend of thermal and breathable materials, the main body features a mix of polyamide and Lycra®, offering stretch, durability, and a snug fit that doesn’t compromise mobility. Contrast panels made from 100% polyester enhance breathability and manage moisture, keeping your hands dry even when your effort levels rise.

The interior feels soft against the skin while maintaining a warm barrier against the cold, making them ideal for winter runs, walks, or outdoor workouts. Grippy details on the palms and fingers make it easy to handle gear, tech, or keys without needing to take them off – a practical touch that keeps you moving.

Whether you're out on a frosty morning run or navigating the winter commute, these mitts offer a simple, effective solution for warm, comfortable hands.

How does it work

The mitts work by grouping your fingers together, reducing the surface area exposed to cold air and allowing them to share warmth more effectively than in gloves. The main body’s polyamide and Lycra® blend offers a close fit that traps heat, while contrast polyester panels allow sweat to escape, preventing clamminess. Meanwhile, textured grips ensure practical use without needing to remove them.

About Ronhill

Dr Ron Hill MBE founded the brand in September 1970, five months after becoming the first Briton to win the Boston Marathon in a record time of 2:10:30. His sole purpose: to produce kit that kept him winning.

Dr Ron gained a PhD in Textile Chemistry, from the University of Manchester and through alchemy and his art as a runner, began to rethink the fly-by-night running kit of the time. After winning the Commonwealth Games in 1970 he developed the ‘side-split short’ which famously become the Freedom Short and the Mesh Vest - both having accompanied him to his greatest victories on the road.

Ronhill is proud of our founder and the heritage he has allowed. His lifelong passion of running and improvement is shared within the team and products we produce today. With 50 years of retrospect, Ronhill has benefited from the experiential learning and change that has occurred within running – from its sporting roots, to a lifestyle and universal culture.

Our purpose now is to make a better future for today’s runner by sustainably developing the elements of our past.
