About Lactate Shuttle
Each 25g scoop contains 21g of carbohydrate in a 1:0.8 glucose-to-fructose ratio and 3g of calcium lactate. Serving size is based on body weight, with recommended servings ranging from two to four scoops. This provides between 42g and 84g of carbohydrate, alongside 6g to 12g of calcium lactate.
Lactate is not simply a waste product responsible for muscle fatigue. It can be transported between cells and used as an energy source during exercise. Lactate Shuttle provides calcium lactate alongside carbohydrates, giving working muscles another potential source of oxidative fuel during sustained, high-intensity efforts.
The 600g pouch includes a 25g measuring scoop and features a lemon flavour. It is designed for long races and demanding endurance sessions where athletes are already following a well-developed carbohydrate fuelling plan. As with any advanced fuelling product, test your complete serving during training before using it in competition.
How does it work
The carbohydrates in Lactate Shuttle come from maltodextrin and fructose in a 1:0.8 ratio. These provide energy for working muscles during prolonged exercise. Each serving also supplies calcium lactate, which provides lactate that can act as an energy intermediate and be used in oxidative energy production.
Lactate is transported between tissues and into cells through monocarboxylate transporters, where it can be converted and used to help produce energy. Research in trained cyclists has found that oral calcium lactate supplementation may reduce perceived effort and influence measures of acid-base balance. However, it should be used as part of a tested fuelling strategy rather than as a replacement for regular carbohydrate intake.
