WHY SHOULD I USE BEET IT SPORT PRODUCTS?

HOW SHOULD I STORE BEET IT SPORT PRODUCTS?

Beet It Sport products contain no preservatives or additives due to their 100% natural ingredients. All Beet It Sport products can be stored ambient or chilled. Our Nitrate 400 shots should be consumed within the same day of opening; our Nitrate 3000 concentrate should be kept refrigerated and consumed within 21 days of opening. Our Nitrate 8000 crystals should be kept tightly sealed and consumed within 45 days once opened.

WHAT IS THE SCIENCE BEHIND BEETROOT JUICE FOR EXERCISE PERFORMANCE?

After consuming nitrate-rich beetroot juice, nitrate is absorbed into the blood stream and taken up by the salivary glands, before being converted to nitrite by bacteria in the mouth. Nitrite is then swallowed, absorbed into the blood stream, and transported around the body. Nitrite can be converted to nitric oxide in the blood and in various organs including muscle. Nitric oxide is important for several processes that influence exercise performance, including vasodilation (widening of blood vessels) and muscle contractility (increase in the force of contraction). A key effect of dietary nitrate is that it reduces the oxygen demand of exercise, meaning the muscles need less oxygen to maintain a given work rate, thereby improving exercise efficiency, fatigue resistance and exercise performance.

HOW LONG DO THE EXERCISE PERFORMANCE EFFECTS OF DIETARY NITRATE LAST FOR?

After consuming beetroot juice, the levels of nitrate and nitrite in the blood stream peak after 1-3 hours and remain elevated for around six hours, before returning to baseline after 12-24 hours.

WHY IS BEET IT SPORT BEETROOT JUICE CONCENTRATED?

Beetroot is particularly high in nitrate, however, on average you would need to consume ~500ml of beetroot juice for an adequate dose of dietary nitrate (~400mg) – this is a lot of beetroot juice to consume before exercise. As such, we developed the concentrated beetroot juice shot to control the dose of nitrate in a more convenient 70ml format.

HOW MUCH CONCENTRATED BEETROOT JUICE SHOULD I CONSUME?

According to the International Olympic Committee, between 310-560mg of dietary nitrate is required for benefits to performance. As we have mentioned above, not all beetroot juices are created equal, so you need to check the nitrate content of the beetroot juice per serving, to ensure you are consuming enough nitrate. All Beet It Sport products provide at least 400mg of dietary nitrate per serving.

ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS OF CONSUMING BEET IT SPORT PRODUCTS?

Beet It Sport products either contain 100% concentrated beetroot juice (Nitrate 3000 and Nitrate 8000) or 98% concentrated beetroot juice with 2% lemon juice (Nitrate 400). Beeturia (pink urine and stools) is a harmless side effect which dissipates within 12 hours of consumption.
