What have you been doing during lockdown?

I have been lucky enough to still be working so that didn’t change much for me, but my job usually involves a fair bit of travelling which I obviously haven’t done since March. I used to train twice a day most days so during lockdown, I stopped that and I also couldn’t get into the gyms to lift, which I have really missed. Strength is very important to me these days and I’ve missed the barbell.

I’ve been walking a lot and read a lot at the beginning of the lockdown (something I didn’t have much time for before), also lots of jobs in the house and garden. Overall, I have been quite productive.

Did COVID-19 affect many events / training?

Yes, I was supposed to race Manchester Marathon, Comrades and TDS in Chamonix. I was also flying out to Nepal to circumnavigate Annapurna.

How did you cope with training during lockdown?

I chose to take my foot off the pedal and concentrate on my 5k pace during the first 8 weeks. With a TT every 4 weeks to see how I was improving. I finally managed to get 17 minutes & 40 seconds, so not bad for an old lady!

How have you found being an ambassador for XMiles?

We haven’t done much together yet but have never had a problem. Excited to see what the future has in store of the both of us.

What do you have planned for the future?

I will be racing the ULTRA X World Champs as the UK Elite runner in Slovenia, another road marathon and TDS. Hopefully another self-supported Annapurna Circuit. I hope to push my online coaching programs and e-guides, which I wrote over lockdown. You can check them out here.
