How BICARRB works

During high-intensity exercise, your muscles produce hydrogen ions as a by-product of energy production. This increase in acidity is a key contributor to fatigue and the familiar burning sensation in the muscles.

Sodium bicarbonate acts as a buffer, helping neutralise these ions and maintain a more optimal muscle pH. By improving acid buffering, BICARRB can increase time to exhaustion, support repeated high-power efforts and help athletes sustain performance when intensity is high.

Research also suggests that bicarbonate can support post-exercise recovery by reducing residual acidity, helping you back up hard sessions and race efforts more consistently.
