Where was your first marathon?

I ran the Edinburgh Marathon when I was 22 and I had no idea what I was doing! It was so hard, I didn't know nutrition was a thing and apart from a couple of sips of water! I made it round in 5:47 (which I'm still so proud of).

 

Where was your last marathon?

I ran the Dorney Lake marathon in April coming in with a PB of 3:43, breaking the 3:45 GFA barrier for the first time. You can find out more about how my race went and my fuelling strategy on the XMiles blog.

 

What would be your main marathon tip for a first timer?

Don't worry about times or other people's journey: just focus on arriving to the start line in one piece and feeling excited about the journey you'll undergo on the day. It's an incredible achievement so view the race day as the victory lap to all your training!

 

Where is your dream marathon?

I've always wanted to run London - fingers crossed my new PB will be fast enough to help me sidestep years of failed ballot entries and finally run it!
