ELIUD BREAKS THE BARRIER & JAN IS TRIATHLON WORLD CHAMPION

ELIUD BREAKS THE BARRIER & JAN IS TRIATHLON WORLD CHAMPION

ELIUD KIPCHOGE BREAKS THE BARRIER

On October 12th 2019 the World witnessed sports history.
Eliud Kipchoge broke the 2-hour marathon barrier and finished the 42,2 kilometres in one hour, fifty-nine minutes and forty seconds. Eliud Kipchoge is now the holder of both the official World Record and the Unofficial World Record.

THE FUELING STRATEGY - From Maurten

Maurten are currently evaluating the INEOS 1:59 challenge and are not able to confirm the exact intake of carbohydrates. But, the strategy was similar to the one applied during his World Record race in Berlin 2018. Every  5 kilometres Eliud received a bottle containing 250 millilitres of Drink Mix 320 with a GEL 100 attached. This enabled Eliud Kipchoge to choose his source of energy, during the run. The bottles have been collected and will be measured in order to analyse the exact carbohydrate and fluid intake. This was a team effort and the 41 pacers that helped minimising air resistance also had access to the Maurten range during preparations and the attempt, to ensure that carbohydrates levels were maintained.

TRIATHLON WORLD CHAMPION

Jan Frodeno won the World Championship title in Kona, finishing the 226 kilometres in seven hours, fifty-one minutes and thirteen seconds – a new course record. The conditions weren't perfect, but that didn't stop one of Triathlon's biggest stars. Jan Frodeno expressed his desire to claim the title prior to the race, especially after an injury stopped him from starting in 2018.

"It really fortified my idea of what I want from sport and it has become one of my greatest motivators – to never give in, to never quit too soon and keep pushing, because that’s the way I can look in the mirror and be happy with myself. For me, happiness comes from the fact that I overcome my borders.”

Maurten are proud of working with Jan. A true inspiration and you show that determination and hard work pays off. Congratulations.
