Kilian Jornet doesn’t sit down much. The ultra-trail-running legend has triumphed in events from the Bob Graham round to the UTMB and trains throughout Europe, always looking for new challenges. But Kilian did sit down for a while to chat to Like the Wind editor Simon, and a fascinating interview in the latest issue of LtW shares their conversation about Kilian’s running goals, how his fame affects him and – of  course – why he runs.

Jornet isn’t the only trail star talking to Simon in issue 18 of Like the Wind; US ultra champion and environmental campaigner Dakota Jones tells us about how his respect for his surroundings influences his running.

We’re thrilled to have such a pair of stars in the magazine, but of course Like the Wind would not be the unique magazine it is without amazing running stories from contributors around the world. In this issue, Gavin Boyter shares his experiences following the original route of the Orient Express, Pierre Cardinal takes us to the Montreal pavements with his crew’s cheer squad, and Japanese illustrator Mobo Chan shares his work with us.

Plus, Tom Martin describes how running changed his life after suffering from ME, Jack Arnold reminisces about his mum’s London Marathon and the impact that had on his sporting endeavours, and Vanessa Corcoran describes the familiar reassurance of running for five miles.

As always, Like the Wind is all about why we run – whether on the hot trails or rainy England.
