No Slip. No Bounce. All Polarised. All Fun.

Stephen Lease was an avid runner equipped with all the running gear he could get his hands on, when he seemed to realise that runners weren’t wearing overpriced high-performance running glasses but just cheap pairs from discount stores. He saw the opportunity for stylish, fun, functional, affordable shades in the running community and launched Goodr.

Goodr was launched in March 2015 with a Kickstarter campaign, shipping badass sunnies from an apartment along with his high school friends and co-founders Ben Abell and Keri Blunt. For the first two years of Goodr, the trio worked full-time jobs whilst growing the brand to the success it is today.

Expanding to over 1,500 stores in 30 different countries, as well as collaborating with major brands such as Warner Bros, The Rolling Stones, and Dunkin’ Donuts, Goodr has become an overnight success. Their high quality sunnies have won several awards including:

  • Runner’s World Gear of the Year (twice!)
  • PGA Buyer’s Choice
  • Men’s Health Best Buy

GU for it with the World’s first energy gel.

Created in 1991, after Dr Vaughan noticed his daughter had to fuel her ultra-marathons on bland energy bars that caused her bloating and were difficult to digest, he invented the World’s FIRST Energy Gel. Ditch the gels, bars, chews, and pills and go all day with just Tailwind.

Jenny and Jeff Vierling created Tailwind after finding most energy nutrition was hard to digest and commonly left Jeff retching at the finish line. After experimenting in his kitchen, Jeff created a powdered drink mix that he began sharing with the local outdoor enthusiasts in his hometown of Durango, Colorado. Their rave reviews led to him to continue tweaking the formula alongside his wife to create Tailwind.

Tailwind combines complete fuel, hydration, and electrolytes in a tasty drink that won’t turn your stomach into a brick. Made with natural ingredients that produce a light tasting drink, perfect for fuelling any athletes' races, without the sickly-sweet aftertaste that will leave you feeling queasy.

During the Leadville 100 bike race, Jeff Vierling crossed the finish line, feeling sick to his stomach. He was so fed up of this constant sickness he found after every race, that he set out to create his own energy fuel.

In his hometown of Durango, Colorado, Jeff began experimenting with an old food mixer and a range of ingredients to create a powdered drink mix. Testing out his creation on himself during long bike rides, many of his riding buddies got curious and became some of his first customers. He continued to test and tweak the formula alongside his wife, Jenny Vierling.

Tailwind was finally born in 2012 after Jeff received an email from a woman who had previously dropped out of seven different 100-mile races due to stomach distress. However, after consuming Tailwind during her most recent race, she had finally crossed the finish line and burst into tears. This is when Jeff realised that Tailwind could help athletes all around the world to reach their goals without nutrition getting in the way.

Nowadays the pair continues to run Tailwind from their hometown of Durango, Colorado and has even expanded worldwide through their many international distributors.

Tailwind Nutrition UK was formed in 2015 by Mike Julien, a veteran of 5 Ironman triathlons, the Grand-to-Grand Ultra (a 6 stage, 170-mile race across the desert), the Marathon des Sables and various UK ultramarathons.

Mike had a desire to compete in longer endurance events but need an energy source that didn’t leave him with an unsettled stomach. Alongside lacking a sweet tooth, Mike was tired of calorie counting every 10 minutes during his races and began the pursuit of new alternative energy source.

After hearing about the highly recommended Tailwind from a Trail Runner Nation podcast, Mike decided to give it a go, only to find out it was not easily available in the UK. In September 2014, he took on the Tailwind Challenge offered by their Swedish distributor and was happy to discover that all the positive reviews weren’t just hype. He found he had enough carbohydrates and electrolytes to fuel himself all day to run and even improved his performance, not stressing over the science of fuelling himself.Mike immediately contacted Jeff and Jenny Vierling, the founders of Tailwind, and joined the group of successful distributors in Australia, New Zealand, Sweden, South Africa, and Hong Kong, becoming the official distributor of Tailwind Nutrition UK.

Tailwind mixes with water to meet your calorie, hydration, and electrolyte needs, no matter how big a day in front of you. Tailwind’s electrolyte profile mimics the electrolytes you lose when you sweat, meaning you can go ahead and donate those electrolyte pills to a good cause, you won't be needing them anymore!

An all-in-one hydration mix with deliberately mild flavouring that many users describe as “light”, Tailwind won’t upset your stomach with intensely sweet flavours. It dissolves completely on contact with water and leaves no film, no lingering aftertaste and no gooey messes. It’s as close as you could get to water while still meeting all your nutritional needs.

You may notice that Tailwind does not contain any protein, why is that?

Studies show no significant improvement in performance when consuming a carb-protein drink compared to a carb-only drink. Protein has also been correlated with GI distress due to it shutting down your digestive tract during exercise. It can also slow the absorption of carbohydrates which are needed to rebuild glycogen stores during the critical recovery window. For these reasons, Tailwind does not contain any protein.
