ONES TO WATCH - TOKYO 2020

RICHARD WHITEHEAD - T61 200M

Whitehead won his first world title at the World Championships in Christchurch, New Zealand - and that title was quickly followed by European and Paralympic gold in 2012.

Whitehead went on to retain his T42 200m world title in 2013 before embarking on a charity expedition, which saw him run 40 marathons in 40 days. In doing so, Whitehead became the first double leg amputee to run the length of the country.

THOMAS YOUNG - T38 100M

While athletics have always been part of Young's life, he only discovered he was eligible for Para-athletics when he was 17. The 20-year-old from London was diagnosed at the age of 12 with Neurofibromatosis type 1, which is a genetic condition that causes tumours, usually non-cancerous, to grow along nerves.

ELLIOT STEWART - 90KG JUDO

Stewart says he was born into judo in February 1988 and later that year, his father Dennis claimed bronze for GB in the 95kg category at the Seoul Olympics.

Both Elliot and brother Max, competed in the sport throughout their lives but while Elliot was training to become a teacher, he realised he was struggling to read what was on the presentation screens. Later that year, he was diagnosed with keratoconus, which means his vision is always blurred.
